This is the best free acoustic drum kit soundfont around IMO. Well maybe the NaturalStudio kit is a tad better but I always get pops/clicks when I use that with SFZ...and this is louder too. Apart from a slight noise on one velocity layer of the Pedal HiHat (Ab), the rest of the samples are excellent.

This is one of the finest soundfonts I ever downloaded from here. I did it on dial-up then, but it was worth it. Wow! Impressing. I now bought the DR-008 from FXpansion as a drumsampler, that comes with 3GB of stuff (wow). But I still love and use this kit. Great work, much appreciated.

LiveKit7 has a realistic and rather nice sound. There is, however, one thing I just don´t understand: the hihat when played with stick (F#3) is centred in the stereo picture, but the open hihat and hihat pedal (G#3, Bb3) come from the left. How in the world would it be possible that the sounds of one hihat are coming from two different corners of a room? The notes F#3, G#3 and Bb3 should naturally sound from the very same point, that is somewhat to the right. By the way, the sf2 version of NS Kit7Free suffers from the same ‘flying hihat’ trouble. It is a mystery to me...

live here means drums were recorded in a live room(or at least they sound lke it), live room being a space with quite a lot of natural(bouncing off the wall) reverb. that is delivered. but if you took the reverberation away sounds are ..hmm regular. and we're missing quite a lot of them. it's good but some sounds below par(cymbals, crashes) , won't work for gm files. soundwise 3.7 out of 5, no 3.8.

If you dont like this soundfont, then you dont like drums. It isn't the end-all-be-all percussion solution, but it is for those times when you "need it to sound real damnit!" the snare/kick rule, especially the velocity layers. Anyway, i think it sounds good.
