I've been using this drum kit for most of my music for some time now - a truly natural multi-velocity acoustic drum kit. It's not the most assertive but a bit of EQ and compression brings it alive. As Dave said, you should download the full version (200MB+) if your system can handle it. I've normalised the samples and re-mapped it to full GM for my own use. I can post that version if anyone is interested. Paul

I honestly think that this kit's good reputation is a bit undeserved... I've tried both the lite version and the 200 meg version and I remain unimpressed. A very boring and skimpy-sounding pop kit, nothing more. I'm sure it's possible to make it sound better by adding some effects but that would mean having to do separate mixdowns of snare, kick, overhead, h-h etc, and that's just too much of a hassle IMO. If you're that serious about your recordings you should get a commercial soundfont with more options anyway.

Agree with cerendir there... I downloaded and tried all of Douglas's soundfonts and, while some of them sound OK (he used to have an overdriven mute guitar soundfont that sounded terrific), I never liked his drum kits. Obviously Douglas has put a lo of effort into making this soundfont (thus the good reputation he has around the net), but it just doesn't do it for me. Someone said he normalised and remapped the samples, it would be good to have that soundfont here...

I don't understand the high reviews for these NS soundfonts, especially considering the ridiculous size. Not even as good as average in my opinion.

anyone know where I can get the 200 mb? If the 200mb one is one I have to buy, then forget my comment.
